This page is dedicated to horses that are in urgent need of homes! Some of them may be currently residing on a slaughter feedlot, awaiting their shipment to a slaughterhouse in Canada or Mexico. Others may belong to private individuals who are in a desperate situation and can no longer care for their horse(s).
Please contact us IMMEDIATELY if you are interested in providing a good adoptive home (or foster home) for any of these at-risk equines!

THESE HORSES HAVE NOWHERE TO GO, AND THEY NEED HOMES ASAP!
We partner with Front Range Equine Rescue to periodically pull groups of horses off the slaughter feedlot that either CAN'T or SHOULDN'T be shipped to slaughter because they are in very poor condition and are already suffering horribly.
We agreed to buy a 'package deal' of horses off the slaughter feedlot this week, that the kill buyer said were ALL in awful shape and needed to be euthanized. With past groups we have dealt with, the horses have always been so severely crippled, sick with cancers or other diseases, or so very emaciated and arthritic from old age, that the kindest thing to do was to humanely end their suffering. However, when THIS group arrived here to Shiloh Acres, we (and our vet) found that 10 of them actually DON'T need to be euthanized for any medical reason, and just need some TLC and rehab.
Now the problem is that we have 8 horses at our facility that we were not prepared to take in, as we simply do not have the SPACE, hay or funds available in our budget to care for them at this time. Front Range Equine Rescue, who is so generous to provide funding to pull and euthanize suffering horses, is also full, and not prepared to take in more horses, either.
We have contacted some other rescues, who are trying to help, but the story is pretty much the same all over right now: space and funding is very tight. These horses cannot stay here at our rescue indefinitely, so we need to place them into good homes (or foster homes) as soon as possible!
So please, if anyone out there has the means to take in one of these horses and give it a good home, get in contact with us.
