**Shiloh Acres Horse Rescue is now officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!**

Shiloh Acres is a small, family run horse rescue located in Fort Collins, Colorado, dedicated to helping slaughter-bound, abused, neglected and unwanted horses.

At this time, the rescue is being run on 2 different properties: a 10-acre horse facility owned by generous friends and supporters of Shiloh Acres, and our newly acquired 68-acre property located in Ault, Colorado.

This new property will become the official site of operations for Shiloh Acres within the next few years as we continue to build horse facilites and get set up to run at that site.

Shiloh Acres' main focus is saving slaughter-bound and neglected horses by either outbidding the "kill buyers" at auction for them, or getting them directly from the kill buyers' feedlots before they are shipped off to slaughter plants located in Mexico and Canada.

As we can only house and care for so many horses at any given time, we also try to place horses into homes directly from the slaughter feedlots by posting them on the "Urgent" page of this website.

A recent addition to our rescue efforts has been to add courtesy listings to the "Available horses" page of our website in an attempt to help horse owners find good homes for their animals privately rather than selling them at auction, where they face the very real danger of being bought for slaughter.  When we are able, we also will accept owner-surrendered horses that otherwise would have nowhere else to go.

At this time, the majority of costs involved with our rescue horses, from daily necessities to specialized veterinary care, are paid for out of our own pocket.  We gladly accept support and donations from the community, and now that Shiloh Acres is officially recognized as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with the IRS, all contributions made to our rescue are tax deductible.  More information on how to help the rescue can be found on the "Want to Help?"  page.

We have many plans and goals for the future of Shiloh Acres Horse Rescue, and we continue to try and find new ways to support the equine community and assist horses and owners in need.
