Green broke/Lightly Started Horses
Horses that have been started under saddle and just need some "miles" and finishing!
Ivy *Adoption Pending!*

Black Quarter Horse mare
Approx. 15.1+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 2003
Ivy is a slaughter feedlot rescue, and was pregnant at the time we got her. After a long break to raise her foal, she has been evaluated under saddle and is ready for a new home.
Ivy is a nice looking, solid mare that has been started under saddle and just needs more miles and training to finish her off. She has some minor trust issues on the ground that we are working with, but she is basically a clean slate, and ready to be trained specifically for whatever discipline or direction someone wants to take her.
Ivy's Adoption Fee: $500
Light/Limited Riding Horses
Horses suitable only for easy, limited riding due to advanced age or soundness issues
Jazzy (High Caliber Girl)

Bay breeding stock Paint mare
Approx. 15.1+ hands
Year of birth: 1998
Jazzy is a gorgeous bay mare with a VERY friendly, sweet temperament. She is broke to ride for an intermediate or higher level rider, but is really only suited for light riding due to a mild lameness on one of her stifles. She will start stepping short with her right hind leg after riding or moving out for a bit, and after evaluation by the vet, it has been determined that she has some soft tissue injury or damage to her stifle on that leg. Radiographs showed that her stifle joint is clean and healthy, so it is most likely an old injury to the soft tissue surrounding the joint.
The vet thinks it is still perfectly OK to use her for light pleasure or trail riding, and recommended either dosing her with bute as needed, or keeping her on a daily supplement like BL solution (a bute substitute) that would help with pain management and keep her riding sound.
Jazzy is a super horse that could work out well for a "weekend" rider who would not mind investing a little extra care in her. In return, they would be getting a super sweet, loving horse who would be happy to go on trail rides now and then.
Jazzy's Adoption Fee: $300
Not Yet Named...

Black Percheron mare
Approx. 17+ hands
Year of birth: 1993
This gorgeous mare is a registered Percheron mare (we don't have her papers yet, so we don't know her name...) rescued from slaughter. She is well broke to drive and ride, but can only be used for light riding due to an injury to one hind leg. The injury is healed and does not hurt her at all, but the vet has recommended not riding her at any faster than a walk, and only on level ground (ie. no mountain trail rides) because she could possibly catch her foot and trip.
She is super sweet and calm, and can be trusted to carry just about anyone. She is great fun to climb up on bareback and wander around on with just her halter on.
Adoption Fee: $300
Damien *Adoption Pending*

Grey Percheron/Shire cross gelding
Approx. 16.2+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 1992
This pure white (well, after a bath, anyway!) drafty boy is built like a tank, and has an incredibly THICK, long mane and crested neck worthy of any fairytale horse, thanks to being a stud for most of his life.
Damien is older but in great shape, and is very willing to let people climb up on him and ride him around even though he has had no real training under saddle. For someone wanting a big, cool pasture pet that they can train to ride, we offer Damien for your consideration!
Damien's Adoption Fee: $350
Project Horses
Young horses, horses that need more basic training, or horses that are ready to start under saddle
Riley

Bay pony filly
Approx. 13.3+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 2006
Riley is an auction rescue, and is some sort of pony mixed breed that we have not yet figured out. She has delicate, pretty features, and an incredibly thick, long and wavy mane and tail.
Riley is halter broke, and stands for the farrier, shots, dewormings, and fly spray. She is ready to be started under saddle, and should prove to be an easy project thanks to her intelligence and willingness to learn.
*Riley will be going into training soon, and her adoption fee will increase with her training level*
Riley's Adoption Fee: $100
Macy

Bay pony mare
Approx. 13.2+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 2004
Macy is a delicate, cute little pony with a big character! She is very people oriented and loves to learn and be working. She can be a bit mischievous sometimes, but then again, she IS a pony! She is a sound, easy keeper who gets along well with other horses, and is always easy to catch and eager to say "hi" when you walk in her pen.
Macy was actually rescued off a slaughter feedlot several years ago, then adopted out to a home who unfortunately had to return her to our rescue last year after they could no longer afford to keep her. She gave pony rides to kids while in that home, but wasn't officially trained to ride. She definitely likes being around children (and is always fascinated by any little ones that visit our rescue), so we hope that one day she will be a great little kid's riding pony.
Macy is currently in training under saddle and is doing excellent. Her adoption fee is being re-evaluated and will be announced soon.
Macy's Adoption Fee: $To Be Announced...
Gunner

Buckskin Quarter Horse-type colt (gelded)
Approx. 13.1+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 2008
Gunner is a very cute, special colt who was rescued at auction. He is sound and healthy in every way, except for the fact that he is missing an eye. According to auction paperwork, his right eye was lost after he caught it on a tee-post when he was very young. He is very well adjusted to life without it, and is not overly spooky or sensitive on that side of his body.
Gunner is probably only going to mature to about 14 hands. He is solid in build, though, and should be a good size for a small adult rider or larger child. He is easy to train, and will be a great project for somebody.
*We recently hauled Gunner to a "show and tell" type situation, where he got to meet many new people while in a completely new environment. We are happy to report that he was absolutely fabulous, from having a bath and trailering across town, to interacting with so many new people for an entire afternoon. He has such a wonderful disposition and really took everything in stride, and we are so proud of him!*
Gunner's Adoption Fee: $100
River
3_a3fe.jpg)
Bay roan Quarter Horse gelding
Approx. 16.0+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 1997
River was rescued off a slaughter feedlot back in December of 2006, where he was in extreme pain from foundering thanks to eating old, moldy corn on the feedlot. With proper treatment and rest, he has healed from his laminitis, and according to x-rays taken of his front hooves, his coffin bones are healthy and have not rotated at all. However, he is still not always completely sound due to old bowed-tendon injuries, and some fusion and arthritis in his fetlocks. He has been worked very hard in his relatively short life. Because of this, he will probably only be able to be a light-riding horse from here on out, unless someone wants to put him on joint injections or daily supplements. Right now he is perfectly pasture sound, and can be seen running and bucking just fine when turned out on pasture.
River originally came from a big Quarter Horse ranch known for their roping and cutting horses, and is supposed to be broke to ride and use on cattle. We haven't even attempted to ride him yet, as he needs to overcome some issues on the ground first... He is sweet and gentle by nature and wants to please, but it is quite apparent that he has been severely mistreated and has trust issues when it comes to people. When he first arrived, he was terrified of things like brushes and the lead rope, and would flinch when you reached out to touch him. The farrier was another terribly scary ordeal, but he has come a long way since then and will now allow you to swing a rope over his neck and body, trim his feet, and put a blanket on him(!!) in bad weather. He is much friendlier now, and will approach you willingly for attention. Sudden, quick movements and aggressive body language still scare him, so he would need a calm, confident handler.
River has reached the point where he could probably be slowly and gently reintroduced to riding. He needs more sacking out to get him past his spookiness and fear. He is a fast learner, and would probably progress well in a home that had more time to devote to just him...so he is offered up for adoption to a loving and patient home that would be interested in helping this handsome horse finish overcoming his fears.
River's Adoption Fee: $100
Companion Horses
Horses that are suitable as pasture pets and companions
Ty

Leopard spotted Appaloosa gelding
Approx. 15.1 hands
Estimated year of birth: 1996
Possibly ridable
Ty is a slaughter feedlot rescue, and is quite the handsome horse! He is a very easy keeper, and easy to handle. He is ranch branded and trailers like a pro, and we are certain that he is broke to ride.
Unfortunately, he suffers from moon blindness, and has lost most of the vision in his left eye, and some in his right. He gets along so well that at first glance he doesn't seem to be visually impaired at all. We think he might still be ridable in a safe arena setting, but we just have not got around to trying him out yet.
Ty is available as a companion right now, but if we find out that he can still have a riding career of some sort, we will update his information.
For anyone wanting a gorgeous pasture ornament and companion horse, he could be your guy!
Ty's Adoption Fee: $50
Roxy

Red Roan Appaloosa mare
Approx. 15.2 hands
Estimated year of birth: 2002
Roxy is just about the sweetest horse you will ever meet! If she could shrink herself to fit in your pocket and ride around with you all day long, she would.
Roxy is such a flashy girl, and is so sweet and mellow to handle on the ground. She is missing her right eye, but according to the story we were able to track down on her, she lost it when she was very young. She is very used to life without it, and is not spooky on that side what so ever.
Roxy is broke to ride, but due to an issue with her neck/back, we think it best she be used as a companion horse only. She is healthy in every other way and requires no special care... she just needs a good home that will appreciate her for her loving personality and companionship!
Roxy's Adoption Fee: $50

Penny & Dime

Mammoth Donkey jenneys
Approx. 15.1+ hands
Estimated year of birth: 2000
Penny (red roan) and Dime (blue roan) are Mammoth Donkeys, almost identical in height and build. They seem like they have just been used for breeding in the past, but could definitely be trained for riding or packing. We think they could make a very flashy, unique driving team in the future!
Both were very shy when we got them off the slaughter feedlot, and while Dime has warmed up to people, Penny is still shy and needs more attention. Both can be haltered, led, and tied, but don't seem to know much past that. They will allow their feet to be trimmed, but need a patient, strong farrier as they are still kind of learning the process.
Penny and Dime are gentle in nature and willing to learn; they just need someone patient (and familiar with donkeys) to give them a home and continue working with them.
Penny & Dime's Adoption Fee: $300/both
