The following horses are brand new arrivals to SAHR, and are currently being evaluated to determine what (if anything) they need to be made ready for new homes. From here, they will be listed on either the Available Horses, Horses Available Soon, or Horses in Training/Rehab pages.
Honey

Older QH mare
Approx. 15+ hands
This sweet, older mare has 'been there and done it' all, and arrived to us suffering from some laminitis. We are working on trying to get her sound to a point where she can live out her remaining years as a happy pasture potato. She is currently doing pretty well, and will hopefully continue to improve with a little more work!
Once we have determined what her feet need to keep her at her most comfortable (and what that level of comfort will actually end up being) she will either stay here at SAHR on a permanent basis, or be offered up for adoption if a loving home comes along and wants to give her the retirement home she deserves!
Scarlet
Black pony mare
Approx. 13.3 hands
Estimated year of birth: 2006
This little pony came from the Amish, where she was supposedly trained to ride by an 8 year old boy and has been all over on trails and roads. We picked her up at an auction when nobody else would bid on her because she was so sad looking!
She was severely underweight, and looked so sad being ridden through the ring by a 6 foot tall man who had to weight at least 270! It's amazing her little legs didn't buckle! And despite all that she has been neglected, she has such a sweet personality and is always the first to come up and say "hi" when turned out on the pasture.
We are working on getting Scarlet up to weight, and then will be evaluating her fully under saddle before offering her up for adoption. Everything points to her being a very quiet little girl who will hopefully make a great kids' pony.
